Shore Bets: The Spring Lake Inn

Are you looking for a relaxing and cozy stay for the summer? Do you love the beach? Enjoy going down to the Jersey Shore? Well do I have the place for you. Whether you are planning a solo vacation, a trip for two or even the whole family this bed and breakfast is perfect. Located in Spring Lake, New Jersey, The Spring Lake Inn is a comfortable and affordable hotel, located only a block away from the beach.

Built initially as a stable in 1888, this 16 bedroom home offers a slew of amenities and spacious rooms for occupancy. Guestrooms and suites are adorned with elegant and fun decorations, along with plush beds and other comfortable furnishings. This bed and breakfast definitely finds pleasure in bringing their guests comfort.

Not only are the rooms comfortable enough that you forget about the beach altogether, but the food is absolutely delicious. Their spacious dining room is off to the right on the main floor, with plenty of chairs, tables, and a beautiful spread for Covid-times. With gluten and dairy free options available, along with the opportunity to take food to your room or even eat out on the Victorian porch, there’s nothing to be missed.

Most impressive however about this location is the attentiveness of the staff and their desire to make your stay the best possible. Andy, one of the owners, is an absolute doll. Whatever question you may have he goes out of his way to find you an answer, and if it’s a matter of yes or no, the answer is almost always yes. Similarly, the rest of the staff find joy in doing whatever it takes to make you satisfied and leave with a smile.

My Personal Experience

My stay at The Spring Lake Inn was one I will never forget. I booked a weekend stay at the bed and breakfast toward the end of January this past winter. This stay was planned specifically for my sister’s bachelorette party. With three months left until the wedding and some time off after the holiday season, it was a great place to get together with the girls to celebrate the bride to be.

My sister, in need of a relaxing and fun weekend with her friends, loved this little getaway I had planned. With a small bridal party it was a great and intimate space to hang out, relax, and make some wonderful memories.

The room we stayed in is called The Innkeeper’s Suite. It is beautifully decorated, has a fireplace which warmed us when we got back from a chilly night out, a jacuzzi tub, flat screen television, and enough beds for us all to have our own!

In the plush seating area, surrounding the fireplace, we spent hours playing board games and sharing stories while we had movies playing in the background on the television. We all found comfort in the room easily and relaxed almost instantaneously upon arrival.

The check-in process was a breeze, and made my anxieties in the attempt to surprise my sister drift away. All thanks to Andy. Andy did so much for me leading up to that weekend, even moments before and after I booked the room he spent time and care to help me.

I called up in late November to ask if it would be okay to host my sister’s bachelorette party at their location. Worried that they may want extreme quiet for the rest of their guests and they may have been strict on their curfew, I thought it may not have been possible. I was pleasantly surprised when they welcomed the idea to have the get together there and asked if there was anything that they may be able to help me with in regards to planning. (This is not to say they don’t want quiet for their guests, they do, they genuinely were just so excited to be part of this experience).

Andy not only helped to find me a masseuse to bring to the room to give us all massages the day of our arrival, but he provided me with several restaurants and locations to go to nearby for the course of our stay. Something else that he had done that told me from the beginning that the owners of this establishment cared wholeheartedly for their guests was the personal phone call I received minutes after I booked the room.

Being that I placed the reservation for a weekend and their policy states that for as short a stay as I booked they would have to charge me immediately upon reservation, I knew that a chunk of money would be taken out of my account. However, no more than 10 minutes after I had put my credit card information in and confirmed the reservation I received a call from Andy. He informed me that he saw my reservation and intended to block off the dates I had booked, but because it was so close to Christmas he was going to charge me closer to my stay so that I had enough money to get me by during the holiday season. I was so unbelievably grateful for the gesture and care put into that act, and it really did help me when it came time for Christmas shopping.

Likewise, when it came to the day of arrival, Andy allowed me to check in several hours prior to normal check-in time so that I could decorate the room and get there with the bridal party to set up before my sister arrived. My sister had no idea (I hope) that we were staying overnight, where we were staying, and the events I had planned.

This was the set up of the room before my sister arrived. The Inn provided the plate of chocolates!

As mentioned, I booked a private masseuse to give us all massages, made a reservation at one of my sister’s favorite restaurants in the area, had a table of gifts for my sister to open, a collection of board games to play, balloons to decorate the room, skin care products to do some self-care, and champagne and glasses to toast the bride to be. I also went to her place when she was at work one night, packed a whole suitcase, took it with me and also bought her a new outfit to wear out to dinner.

It was definitely a lot to put together, but Andy helped make the work light and kept me at ease. Similarly, his staff the next morning were just as attentive. A personal note about me is that I only drink decaf coffee, and after the night before I desperately needed a cup to get my day started. There had been none out and no one else wanted any, but the woman working the breakfast area that morning made me an entire pot for myself, regardless if I wasn’t going to finish it, so that I had what I wanted and could enjoy a fresh hot cup of coffee.

I was simply amazed at everything on site and by how wonderful my stay was. I know my sister and her bridesmaids think similarly of their experience, and likewise it is one we will always remember.
